What Is a Servo Motor? Servo Systems in Industrial Automation

Servo motors are advanced motion control systems providing high precision speed and position control.

Servo motors are advanced motor systems used in industrial automation applications requiring high precision motion control. Unlike conventional electric motors, servo motors do not only produce rotational movement but also provide precise control of speed, position and torque. Because of these capabilities they are widely used in robotics systems, CNC machines, packaging machines and automated production lines. Servo systems generally consist of three main components: Servo motor Servo drive Feedback system (encoder) The encoder continuously measures the real position of the motor and corrects the motion accordingly. This closed-loop control structure allows servo motors to achieve extremely accurate movement control. In modern industrial automation projects servo systems are preferred to increase production speed and ensure reliable precision processes. At Akyildiz Automation we develop high performance motion control systems using Siemens servo technologies.
